Steph Houghton paid an emotional tribute to the Club and City’s fans following her final match at the Joie Stadium.

City’s captain, record appearance holder, most decorated player and last member of our original professional side in 2014, Houghton announced she would retire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

And while Stina Blackstenius’ late brace denied Gareth Taylor’s side a win against Arsenal in her last home match, Houghton was given a fitting farewell by the fans after the game.

And the defender admitted after that she’d cherish the decade she’s had at the Club for the rest of her life.

“It’s meant absolutely everything, and I can say hand on heart that I’ve given absolutely everything to this football club,” she told Matchday Live’s Cel Spellman.

“Manchester City means so much to me and to my family, to come and live in Manchester, meet Stephen here, this is my home now.

“For the City fans and everyone else connected with the Club to take me in like they have is something that will always live with me.

“The result today could’ve been better but that [farewell] epitomises what this Club’s about in terms of what they do for their players. It’s been really special.”
