Sam Mewis says City are finding our groove at an excellent time with games coming thick and fast.

The World Cup winner starred, as Gareth Taylor‘s side booked our place in the FA Women’s Cup Final with a superb 2-1 triumph over Arsenal, netting the winning goal - her first competitive strike for the Club.

Naturally, she was delighted to open her account but hailed the “gritty” display of her teammates, hailing the side’s defensive solidarity.

“It feels really good,” she smiled. “I’m proud of the performance and really excited to head back to Wembley.

“We’re really happy. I’m new here but this tournament is so renowned. I feel like I only have a minimal understanding but I know it means so much - you could see from my teammates’ reaction - and now it’s starting to mean so much to me too.

“We’re so excited to be in the Final and we hope for a better performance (at Wembley) this time.

“It’s an honour to compete in this prestigious tournament.”

The victory also saw Mewis reunited with fellow United States star Rose Lavelle, who made her debut from the bench, and the 27-year-old says she could not be happier to be linking up with her compatriot at Club level.
