City will be one of eight top-class sides in Portugal between 21 and 23 May for the seven-a-side competition, with the Blues possibly playing up to five 30-minute matches over three days.
With that to look forward to following the conclusion of our Barclays Women’s Super League campaign this weekend, interim City boss Cushing can’t wait to be involved.
“It’s really exciting. It’s a different form of the game. It’s brand new,” he said in Friday’s press conference.
“We’re excited to be part of the inaugural tournament. You look at the teams involved and can see how serious an event it will be.
“I think Marc [Skinner] has summed it up, it will be fun and competitive. I’m excited to be involved and I know the players are. It’s going to be a good challenge.”
