Jonas Eidevall’s side have been in hugely impressive form so far this campaign, winning all six of their competitive matches in the WSL and UEFA Women’s Champions League.

They sit joint-top of the tree, but know they’ll need to be at their best once again to get the better of a City side intent on a statement win to kickstart our season at Meadow Park.

The fixture has produced several memorable encounters over the years, with plenty of fond memories along the way for Gareth Taylor’s side.

Last year’s trip to Boreham Wood saw Lauren Hemp conjure up a late winner, while Caroline Weir made a similarly vital 94th-minute contribution against her former club in our 2-1 triumph at the Academy Stadium in December 2020.

Wind the clock back a little further and Janine Beckie’s winning penalty in the 2019 Continental Cup final springs to mind, or Toni Duggan’s long-range stunner four years earlier.

But Gareth Taylor has always stressed the importance of focusing only on the next game and has also welcomed his team’s siege mentality ahead of a vital WSL clash against Arsenal.
