After a closely contested opening 30 minutes with both sides cancelling each other out, the game sprang to life with two goals in three minutes.
Gareth Taylor’s side took the lead when Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw expertly spun her marker on the edge of the box and slotted Deyna Castellanos into the box who coolly slotted her first WSL goal into the net.
However, the visitors hit back immediately when Kirsty Hanson scored via a deflected shot from close range after the ball fell into her path inside the box.
The Villans came into the clash buoyed after beating Spurs 2-1 at home and their goal in this clash gave them the added confidence to push for a winner as the second half played out.
Our defence held strong for those moments and we also created several chances late on, courtesy of forward Shaw and playmaker Yui Hasegawa, before the spoils were eventually shared.
