In an end-to-end occasion at the Etihad Stadium, Gareth Taylor‘s side fell to a 4-2 defeat to Manchester United.

The visitors benefitted from a bright start with Ella Toone breaking the deadlock after collecting Leah Galton’s pass to break into the box and chip into the back of the net.

After carving out the first, the latter then doubled Marc Skinner’s side’s lead when the hosts failed to clear a corner, allowing Galton to ghost into the box and tuck home after the ball fell kindly to her.

The Blues responded well to the setback but the crucial third goal of the game fell the way of United when Elisabeth Terland snatched the ball on the edge of the box before nudging it to Toone who bagged her second and United’s third.

But City rallied and produced a remarkable reaction, scoring twice before the interval with Vivianne Miedema heading home before Rebecca Knaak repeated the trick from a corner, powering home to give us a lifeline.

However, Toone completed her hat-trick shortly after the restart to stunt our momentum and despite a siege on the visitors goal afterwards, we suffered only our second loss of the term.
