Leila Ouahabi has described herself as a more complete player having experienced the cut and thrust of the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Spanish defender has penned a two-year contract extension at Manchester City, keeping her at the Club until 2026.

A summer 2022 signing from Barcelona, the defender’s move to the Joie Stadium represented her first taste of English football following a trophy laden career in Spain for Barca and Valencia.

Since then, she has made 37 appearances for Gareth Taylor’s side and has played an integral role in our battle for major trophies both in 2022/23 and during the season so far.

And Ouahabi is relishing the challenge of testing herself in the Barclays Women’s Super League for years to come.

“I think I’m a better player now because I have improved my defensive aspect. Now I think I’m [a] much [more] complete player,” she explained.

“It’s so good for my feeling in the moment and I want to keep going and improving more.

“For me, this is the best league and I want to stay here for more years. I’m really enjoying [playing] in this league and competition.

“For that reason, I’ve improved my defensive aspects.

“I think we are doing really well this season, we have started really well. We are improving, more mature and more compact this season.”
