Bunny proud of hat-trick-hitting display against Sheffield United

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw expressed her pride in scoring a hat-trick as City opened our FA Cup campaign in style against Sheffield United.

The Jamaican netted thrice in the 7-0 rout over the Blades, while also showcasing her immense all-round game.

Her first came when she lost her marker to sweep Chloe Kelly’s cut-back into an empty net, before spinning her marker to coolly slot into the bottom corner from distance shortly after-half-time.

And to cap off a remarkable display, she prodded home on the cusp of full-time to claim the match ball.

Her tally for the season now stands at 16 in all competitions, but Shaw explained how she was mostly happy to help the team progress to Round Five.

“It’s good you know when you can help the team. For the position I play, the team look to me so it’s good to get the hat-trick today,” Bunny expressed.

“It’s just about sticking with it and staying consistent and being lively around the box.

“Sometimes the play can get scruffy so I think it’s just about being alive around the box. I think that’s been really the difference and being consistent.

“I’m pretty confident. Like I said, when you score goals you build momentum and you build confidence so I think it’s just about sticking at it and doing what I can do.

“We did some good things [against Sheffield United]. We’ve been working on the training pitch on some things we want to improve on and today we’ve definitely done that and there’s always room for improvement.

“Every game we get better so it’s good.”
