City host United this weekend in a crunch FA Women’s Super League fixture, looking to close the gap on the Reds in the table and reclaim the local bragging rights.
The game sold out on Thursday – a first for the Academy Stadium – and Taylor says the news highlights the ever-increasing growth of the women's game.
“It’s good, we’re excited,” he stated. “We heard it’s a sell-out – and three days before the game, which is fantastic.
“The fans have been away for too long. We missed it last season. It’s no secret football is nothing without supporters and it’s so different now they’re back.
“It felt strange at first but it’s great and the fact it’s sold out – supporters there from both teams – is a great advert for the women's game and shows we’re moving in the right direction. Long may it continue.
“Both teams are in amongst it. It’s great for the city and women’s football. The levels are improving all the time.
“We’re excited and one we’re looking forward to.”
