Taylor hails fans' impact ahead of Academy Stadium return

Gareth Taylor has praised the City supporters ahead of our first home match of 2023 against Aston Villa, describing the Club as 'a family'.

A bumper crowd is expected for Saturday 21 January's 11:30 (UK) kick-off, as City look to extend our unbeaten run to 13 matches.

Standing in our way are an Aston Villa side full of confidence on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 win over Spurs.

And Taylor believes the City supporters can play an important role against the Villans.

"The fans always play a huge part. There’s an upshot in numbers which is fantastic, but we know the die-hards," the boss said.

"A special mention to the guys down at West Ham on a cold Sunday night and then again at Burton on another cold Wednesday night three days later is amazing.

"We really respect that because it feels like a family and when you see these familiar faces and the amount of energy that goes into that support it’s not easy.

"These guys have got jobs and families so to be there and support us the way they have been amazing."
