Gareth Taylor is confident his City side will regroup quickly following our slender 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Continental Cup semi-finals.

Lauren James’ early strike proved the difference at the Joie Stadium, despite City controlling large spells of the contest.

It means our 12-match winning run in all competitions has come to an end, but Taylor believes his players will react positively in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Spurs after an impressive second half performance.

The boss believes City did everything but score after the restart and feels it could’ve been a different story on another day.

“That second half performance is one of the best we’ve given,” Taylor reflected.

“Of course, we’ll have other games where we’ll open up and go three or four goals but that is the way I want us to play.

“That’s one of the real positives I said to the girls after.

“We dust ourselves off and get ready for the FA Cup, the next competition and do our best to win that.

“If we play like we did in this game tonight then we’ll have a really good chance.”
