But a spectacular Mary Fowler strike from range broke the deadlock 15 minutes after the restart - before the Australia international doubled our lead when sliding home Lauren Hemp’s cross.

It was exactly what the visitors deserved, and an unfortunate Amy Rodgers own goal followed by Alex Greenwood’s first of the season set the seal on a fine evening in Bristol.

The victory also saw City equal the longest winning run in WSL history, with this our 14th success in a row as our title bid continues to gather momentum.
