Kelly reflects on Euros winner and previews WSL opener

Chloe Kelly has sat down with City Studios to discuss the new Barclays Women’s Super League campaign and her thoughts on a memorable summer for women’s football.

The winger’s extra-time winner against Germany in July’s Euro 2022 final ended England’s 56-year wait for a major international honour.

With over 87,000 supporters packed into Wembley, the match represented the highest-ever attendance for either a men’s or women’s European Championship final.

And Kelly has reflected on her vital contribution to an historic triumph for the Lionesses, describing her emotions when the ball hit the back of the net, and the wild celebrations that followed!

But with the new WSL season beginning this weekend, the winger also looked ahead to our curtain-raiser away to Aston Villa on Sunday.

“A lot of teams have brought in great players, as have we,” she said.

“I believe that our signings are brilliant, young talents that have great years ahead of them. We have a great group of players with brilliant futures.

“I’m excited to be on the pitch with those girls and learn off a great manager like Gareth [Taylor].

“We lost such great players which is sad, but I believe in the group that we’ve got and hopefully there’ll be plenty of years to come with a lot of talent.”
