The City legend had taken on the Aston Villa Women job on an interim basis recently prior to Natalia Arroyo landing the job on Thursday afternoon.
Though Goater was keen to take the Villa job on a permanent basis, he is likely to remain as – and Taylor believes his inside knowledge of the City team will make this an interesting test.
“Obviously they have a new manager now, but it’ll be good to see Shaun first and foremost, but they’ve probably changed things,” said Taylor.
“If I take us back to that game [against Villa earlier in the campaign], I thought we were excellent.
“The control we had in the game meant we limited Villa very little, conceded one of the few attacks they had, and I thought we were outstanding,
“Hemp played a big part that day, Roord with the goal - similar to Liverpool at Anfield when sometimes when you don’t turn them round, -you’re so satisfied with the performance.
“We want to try and do it again, I think even missing some key players, though it’ll be nice to get Bunny potentially back for some period of the game - let’s see. We want to get back to those levels and standards.
“Shaun’s a great guy, an old teammate and probably taken a few things with him from us which is really good.
“You can see some similarities; they play with one deep mid rather than two like us. It’ll be good to see him, we’re both really competitive, that’s not changed, and it’ll be the same again this weekend trying to win the game for our respective teams.
“We have spoken a few time since he took the role on an interim basis but it’ll be radio silence until we see each other now!”
