Discussing the visit to session Scott said: “A lot of adults probably don’t understand how to sometimes express their emotions, and like anything, the earlier you introduce things the easier it will become for them.”
City Thrive utilises a blended approach, using football sessions, group workshops and one-to-one mentoring to educate students about mental health subjects whilst also equipping them with the tools to regulate their mental well-being.
Mentoring Manager, Jason El-Kaleh, commented on the importance of the sessions saying: “Research suggests that early experiences impact the social, emotional and cognitive development of children aged five and under.
“City Play staff have worked alongside CITC’s City Thrive team to introduce these mental wellbeing themes to under 5’s in a fun and interactive way.
“These sessions aim to equip children aged 2-5 with the tools to understand and express their emotions, laying foundations for positive mental health outcomes in later life.”
