“When things got really tough, we stepped forward. This is a champions’ mentality.”

Those were the words of Rodri, who leaves City today after seven magnificent years and 14 major honours.

That haul comprises of four Premier League titles, three League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields and one of each in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

He’ll forever be synonymous with the historic Champions League success having scored the winner against Inter on that fateful night in Istanbul.

Over his time in Manchester, the 30-year-old has developed into one of the best players in the world, even claiming the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

He’s also been a star at international level, winning Player of the Tournament as Spain lifted both Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.

Unerringly consistent in terms of fitness and performance levels until a cruel knee injury in September 2024, Rodri’s mentality was a driving force in many of our successes under Guardiola.

There can be no doubt of his place in City history and as the above video testifies, his seat at the table with the very best the Premier League has ever known.
