Guardiola provides De Bruyne recovery update

Pep Guardiola has revealed that Kevin De Bruyne is progressing well in his recovery from injury.

De Bruyne has been sidelined since the middle of January after picking up a muscular injury in our 2-0 win against Aston Villa, with the boss saying the initial prognosis was he would be out for between four and six weeks.

Asked about De Bruyne’s rehabilitation and progress at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Swansea, Guardiola provided an encouraging update.

“He is getting well he is already training, not with the team but alone and he is feeling well,” the boss reported.

“It’s good, really good.”

Asked on whether De Bruyne could be in contention to be available for our Champions League last 16 first leg tie against Borussia Monchengladbach later this month, the boss was circumspect in his outlook.

“I cannot say. What’s important is day by day he is feeling very good,” Guardiola added.
