Pep says ‘anything can happen’ before window closes

Pep Guardiola says ‘big things’ could happen before the transfer window closes next Tuesday.

Whether City will be involved in any players coming in or going out remains to be seen, but the boss expects there to be plenty of movement in the Premier League and Europe.

“Every season is the same,” said Pep.

“Clubs always arrive on the last days and maybe this time big things (could happen). I don't know what will happen.

“Transfer windows are weird, big issues. English teams have done one or two signings. Maybe Madrid will do something. I don't know.

Asked whether some of his players could leave City, Pep added: “Right now I don't think so.

“Maybe it will happen, but I don't think so. In four days anything can happen.”

The boss also says that if there are no new arrivals, he is more than happy with his squad.

And though Gabriel Jesus is the only recognised striker with experience, youngsters like Liam Delap can play their part as the season progresses.

“Of course Liam will be a part,” said the boss.

“We cannot forget how good we have done with the squad we have. Always we are trying to get better. Some players in one moment are at one level, and they reduce and then rise again - but we have players in the Academy we can count on.

“Liam is one of them. Unfortunately this pre-season he was injured.

“We have players who can play there. Raheem, Gabriel, Ferran, Jack can play there.

“We can find alternatives. Always I believe we score a lot of goals playing with a striker, sometimes without. That is what we want to do and we will try.”
