Guardiola: Foden lives for football

Pep Guardiola sounded a special salute to Phil Foden after the England international registered his first ever City hat-trick in our remarkable 6-3 derby win over Manchester United.

The 22-year-old capped a magnificent all-round display at the Etihad with a sumptuous treble that personified his drive, talent, hunger and appetite.

Reflecting both on the win – and Foden’s impact – Guardiola hailed the attacking midfielder’s attitude and impact.

“Phil is a reality. He is still a young lad, but he played important games with us. But he ran, he pressed and showed intensity," Guardiola said.

“He is a talent - it is a reality. He lives for football and hopefully he can stay many years with us.”
