Potter one of the best managers in the Premier League, says Guardiola

Pep Guardiola says Chelsea boss Graham Potter is one of the best managers in the Premier League.

Potter swapped the Amex Stadium for Stamford Bridge back in September, ending a three-year stay at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Chelsea's form has dipped below their usual standards in recent weeks following a loss on the road to the Seagulls and a narrow defeat to league leaders Arsenal at home.

However, they have been clinical in the Champions League, winning three games and drawing once since Potter entered the club, results which sealed their spot in the Round of 16.

And Guardiola says he has no doubts that Potter will excel in his new position and hopes he is given the time he needs to succeed.

“If Chelsea accept my humble advice, give him time and he will do well,” he said.

“They got good results but the way they play, when I saw the game against Brighton that they lost, I saw many things I remember from his period in Brighton. But he needs time, everybody needs time.

“No one has success from day one or two, I have a lot of admiration for his work.

“What he did at Brighton was beyond exceptional and I’m pretty sure with time he will do a good job, I don’t have any doubts.

“He is one of the best managers from my point of view, we have in this league.”
