Pep Guardiola has made it clear just how much he values Rodrigo ahead of this Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Our No.16 has not lost a game in a City shirt since February 2023 and is considered by many to be the best midfielder in the world.

Originally a defensive midfielder, the Spaniard has developed his all-round game to offer more of a threat going forward too, as demonstrated by his winner in last season’s Champions League final.

This season, Rodrigo has already played 37 times for City and it’s clear he will be central to our plans in the closing stages of the campaign.

Speaking ahead of the top-of-the-table meeting with Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, Guardiola emphasised what the midfielder brings to his team.

“Rodri is so important,” the boss said.

“In the big clubs, when you try and win big titles and have big targets, you need incredible players, characters and no injuries and then the situation is in your favour.

“Since Rodri has arrived, he has shown how he has grown up - though in terms of mentality, he has always been so strong.

“What can I say because I’ve said it so many times? He’s a really important player.”
