Guardiola hails De Bruyne's penalty poise

Pep Guardiola praised Kevin De Bruyne’s reliability from the penalty spot after the midfielder’s first-half spot-kick paved the way for City’s 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win at Newcastle.

De Bruyne was entrusted with the role earlier this season after a number of his colleagues had endured frustrating times from the spot.

And after scoring the winner away at Real Madrid in February’s Champions League last 16 first leg tie, De Bruyne has since scored twice more with penalties.

As he reflected on the impressive win, Guardiola was quick to highlight De Bruyne’s poise and confidence with the key role.

De Bruyne is definitely reliable and hopefully he can carry on because we struggled a lot this season with this,” the City manager said.

“We miss I think five or six. Kevin now takes responsibility; he has a confident personality and that is important for us."
