Liam Delap described the 2020-21 campaign as a ‘dream come true’ after scooping the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.

The young forward’s 24-goal haul helped our Elite Development Squad secure a maiden Premier League 2 title in style.

In a standout individual season, the 18-year-old also found the back of the net on his senior debut in City’s 2-1 Carabao Cup triumph over Bournemouth back in September.

Delap has regularly trained with Pep Guardiola’s men this season and was in no doubts about how that added experience has impacted his personal development.

He also expressed his delight after being recognised as the standout performer in a truly memorable Premier League 2 season.

“The only way to describe it is a dream come true,” he beamed.

“I would say 90% of kids’ dreams when they’re younger are probably to play football for a living.

“Since I was probably 4, since I can remember, I’ve admired and looked up to everyone playing. It’s just been incredible.

“You’re training in and around the best of the best.

“You look at them and learn from them and you can see in them what you have to do to get to that level.

“Watching them day in day out, you can get in their routine and follow what they do which has got them to that level.

“Having that same spirit as them can do you no harm and hopefully help you to get to where they are right now.”
