Pep: 'We were ready for any situation'

Pep Guardiola says City would have coped with all situations had the FIFA ban on Ederson and Gabriel Jesus been upheld.

The City boss didn't know if either Brazilian star would be able to play at the King Power Stadium until it was confirmed they could late last night.

But he also added that the team would have covered their absence had it been necessary, with Scott Carson on stand-by and any number of possible replacements up front.

"We prepared the team for Leicester for one day, because we had no more than that," said Pep.

"Scott was with us. If Eddy could not have played, Scott would have played. If Gabby could not play, another one would have.

"It was an excellent performance. After an international break you always have doubts, but the mentality from the players was incredible from the first minute to the end.

"After the international break it is not one of the best places to come. We played really well.

"We conceded few [chances], we created a lot and unfortunately we could not score more goals, but the big signal to be solid during one season is the way we played.

"The last three games we were incredibly good and that’s why our victories are there."
