Kings of the Hill recounts the barmy, bizarre and brilliant afternoon the Club enjoyed on 7 May 2000, when Joe Royle’s side beat Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at Ewood Park to complete our rise from Division Two to the top tier.
Twelve months on from the extraordinary playoff final victory over Gillingham, City recorded another iconic win to ensure we beat Ipswich Town to the second automatic promotion spot in Division One.
Needing a point to complete the job, Royle’s men won at a canter, thanks to strikes from Shaun Goater, Mark Kennedy, Paul Dickov and a Christian Dailly own goal.
With the demand for tickets sky-high, tens of thousands of fans travelled to Lancashire, with some watching on from the home section and others memorably taking up a position on the hills overlooking the ground.
The latest offering from City Studios commemorates every aspect of that momentous day, featuring contributions from Royle, Dickov, Goater, Nicky Weaver and a host of fans who were in attendance.
