Our new No. 10 joins Manchester City from boyhood club Aston Villa, who he had captained since March 2019.
Grealish makes the switch having forged a reputation as one of the Premier League’s finest midfield technicians, after helping to reestablish the Villans in the top flight over the past two seasons.
While the England international is delighted to join Pep Guardiola’s squad, the decision to leave a club he joined at just six years of age was far from an easy one to come to.
Nonetheless, the 25-year-old insists that the prospect of working with the City boss was a big factor in his choice to sign for the Premier League champions.
“Playing under the best manager in the world was something I couldn’t really turn down,” Grealish told mancity.com in his first interview as a City player.
“When I came here this morning I had a long chat with him about positions. It was all football.
“It was such a positive chat. It shows why I want to play under him.
“I have heard nothing but good words about him from the lads at England and I can’t wait to get started.
“In the end it was something I couldn’t turn down. Let’s hope it’s a successful one.”
