Ilkay Gundogan says there is plenty more to come from him in the wake of his goal scoring impact in our opening 3-1 Champions League Group C win against Porto.

Afforded his first start of the season, the German midfielder struck a superb second half free-kick to fire City ahead at the Etihad.

However, after seeing his preparations for the new season delayed by a positive COVID-19 test, Gundogan says he is still working his way back to full capacity.

“There are many things I can improve… I am still not at 100 per cent yet,” Gundogan admitted.

“I’ve only had three or four training sessions with the team and had 25 minutes at the weekend.

“So, I need rhythm and game time.

“I am trying my best as possible and I am sure with the amount of games we have coming that it will be even better and on Wednesday the most important thing was to start with a win.”
