Ederson explains why rotation is vital after restart

Ederson says squad rotation is a must after the Premier League restart, as outfield players will be unable to play with their usual intensity after three and half months without a game.

Manchester City host Burnley in our second match back on Monday evening, five days after we returned to action with victory over Arsenal and the Brazilian is expecting Guardiola to make several changes to the starting line-up.

Whilst City’s Champions League commitments mean it is normal for us to play every three days in the regular season, Ederson says such demands will prove more difficult for players following the lengthy break.

“At this stage a defender will not be able to play with high-intensity,” he explained.

“Their conditioning will not allow them to play two games in a row as they used to do before. Squad rotation will happen for sure, to avoid injuries as well.”

Ederson also discussed adjusting to behind-closed-doors games and his support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
