Eight goals, mesmeric football and records tumble...

Manchester City produced a ruthless display to beat Watford 8-0 on Saturday.

It was the ideal way to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat at Norwich, with David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva (3), Nicolas Otamendi and Kevin De Bruyne all on the scoresheet.

The result sees City close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the table to two points, with the Merseysiders set to face Chelsea on Sunday.

Afterwards, man of the match Bernardo Silva said: "We were unbelievable in the first 30 minutes, scored lots of goals and had control. After the Norwich defeat, it was great to give our fans the result and the performance.

"We aimed to keep it going in the second half. We didn't want them to hurt us or score past us.

"Footbal is a hard game - I've won 8-0 today but I've lost plenty of times by five or four goals. You just have to keep going so I wished the Watford players well."
