At 74, the Crystal Palace boss is the oldest in Premier League history, and Guardiola expressed his admiration for Hodgson before they lock horns at the Etihad this weekend.
“It’s incredible to still have the passion to be a manager at his age,” the boss revealed in a press conference before Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.
“We cannot forget their position when he took over. Everyone considered Palace relegated. He made an incredible job and he is still doing one.

“It’s a pleasure for me when we face each other, and we have a good relationship.”
When asked what he thinks the former England manager’s secret is to his longevity at the highest level, Guardiola said in jest: “I think when you are training at 74 you are bored at home.”
However, he admitted he can understand where Hodgson’s drive comes from, given the twists and turns the beautiful game offers on a regular basis.
Guardiola said: “It’s addictive. You are with young people working, athletes. It’s a competition, you need to prove yourself.
“Every game is different, opponents are different, maybe that's the reason why older managers are still in charge.”
