Pep Guardiola believes his team will need to be near-faultless in the remaining 14 Premier League games if Liverpool are to be overhauled.
The City boss says he cannot see the Reds slipping up very often between now and the end of the campaign – and that means the Blues will need to keep winning in order to have a chance of retaining the title.
We have to win a lot of games to win the title,” said Pep.
"I don’t see Liverpool dropping many points. They are going to demand us to be there.
“Does playing before them make a difference? I don’t know what they think - I'm not in Liverpool’s locker room -and I don’t think Klopp would invite me!
“We need to let them feel that we are there. Play a game 1, 4, 7 points in front is different.”
The Blues’ boss also believes only a handful of teams play their natural game against City, with many adopting preventative tactics rather than playing a more expansive style
“There have been a few - Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton…
“I don’t think it’s because they are scared, no. They want to attack and make counter attack. I have to credit our players because they don’t allow teams to do that often
