Manchester City are delighted to announce Janine Beckie and Pauline Bremer have signed new contracts.
Having both enjoyed increased gametime in recent months, the duo assert their personal performances have improved since making the move to Manchester and have committed their futures to the Club, as City look to complete the season with a domestic treble.
Beckie, who signed for City from Sky Blue FC in August 2018, has been delighted with her rapid development.
The Canadian has impressed on her debut campaign, having played a key role in helping us to our third Continental Cup success – her first piece of silverware with City – as she stepped up to net the winning penalty in the shoot-out win over Arsenal at Bramall Lane.
Beckie had previously hit the back of the net four times in the Group Stage win over Sheffield United, with seven of her eight goals for the club this season coming in the Continental Cup competition – and is relishing the chance to create more history.
“It’s been a busy, fast first year and I’m so excited to be staying with the Club,” she declared. “I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
“There are a lot of things I love about this Club. The biggest things really have been the people and the environment – how welcoming it was when I first got here. Of course, it’s very far from home.
“The great other thing is how much better I’ve gotten in the short time I’ve been here. The game is so different over here – so much more technical.
“My passing, touch and decision-making have gotten so much better – a lot of things have. Every area of my game has improved.
“It would be very hard to leave this environment and I’m excited to stay and see what the next time holds.”

Unfortunately, the German international suffered a fracture in her right leg later on in the match which ruled her out of action for more than a year.
The striker made her return to action midway through the 2018/19 campaign in the Continental Cup game against Sheffield United.
She scored her first goal since her return from injury in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Watford in February before winning her first piece of silverware with the club later in the month when we lifted the Continental Cup at Bramall Lane.
Having missed so much, Bremer asserts she has a point to prove.
“It feels really good to have signed a new contract,” she smiled. “I’m really excited to continue this journey with City.
“It’s a really ambitious Club and I like that – since day one, the Club has promised to fight for every title and I want to be part of this team and this movement.
“We are always striving to get to the top and win a lot of titles.
“My first season was not as expected. It was difficult but I’m back now and I’m really proud that I overcame that huge challenge. It’s definitely made me stronger.
“I’m really happy to be back and I want to look forward. The injury is a part of my – a part of my history – but now, I’m fit and I want to play many games for City.”
The news provides a timely boost ahead of an exciting period for City, the players and their respective countries, as the league season reaches its climax and anticipation builds for the 2019 World Cup in France.
Beckie is a regular starter for Canada, while Bremer returned to the Germany squad for the first time in two years in the most recent training camp.
Needless to say, the pair are thrilled by what the next few weeks have in store.
“It’s great to not have to worry, going into the World Cup, having sorted where I’m going to be and what environment I’m going to be in,” Beckie added.
“There’s so much to look forward to over the coming months. There are still two trophies on the line and they’re very doable so we’ll do everything in our power and see how it goes.”
Bremer agreed: “There are massive weeks ahead of us.
“We still have the FA Cup and league to play for. Last season, we went really far in all competitions but didn’t win a trophy.
“It was nice to have won the Conti Cup this year but of course, we want to win more.
“I’m happy to be part of the team and to fight for all the goals we have set. There’s definitely a lot more to come.”
City are in FA Women’s Cup semi-final action at home against Chelsea at the Academy Stadium on Sunday 14 April at 3:30pm.
