Pep Guardiola faced the media after of City's Premier League win over Fulham.
He said: "It is almost impossible to be more pleased as a manager with him. He deserves to play a lot of minutes he’s playing. He’s a perfect example.
"Last season, he played a lot - but didn’t start. I never forget the behaviour he has. Last season, people asked me and I said 'I don't know what would happen in the future but he would stay here'. He is special.
"He is so clever. He is so intelligent, playing many positions. Unfortunately, he couldn't score his chances today, but he deserves all my respect. As a professional and as a player, he (excellent).
He ran the most so thank you so much Manchester City for buying that guy from Monaco!
Pep also spoke of Leroy Sane's contribution, adding: "We never doubted Leroy’s quality. He showed us many times , especially last season. Today, he played again so well.
"We cannot forget: he is 22 years old. These kind of things - ups and downs - they happen at that age."
