Pep Guardiola believes Aymeric Laporte has all the attributes to enjoy a long and distinguished career at Manchester City.

The manager was full of praise for his latest signing as he was quizzed by journalists ahead of the midweek game against West Brom.

“He’s a left footed central defender who has played since a young age in La Liga on the biggest stages,”said Guardiola.

“He’s strong in the air, good quality with the pass.

“He is experienced, fast and he has the skills we need.

“He is the perfect age, 23-years-old, so hopefully he will have a long career here at Manchester City.”

The manager also revealed that he expects Leroy Sane to be out for several weeks after picking up an injury against Cardiff City.
