Man City manager Pep Guardiola insists his side will do all they can to at least claim a top four finish.
During his media address, ahead of Sunday’s visit of Swansea, the Blues boss was asked of the possibility his side – currently fifth in the Premier League on goal difference – may not end the season in a Champions League spot.
“In the Premier League, it is important to make victories in a row, or we will not be able to fight until the end,” he stated.
“We need that. We have started well – we have had two or three games [with good performances] to create consistency.
“We won more points away. That means a lot. On our pitch and our home, we will be stronger. We dropped a lot of points – against Everton and Middlesbrough – and we were unlucky against Chelsea and Tottenham for many reasons.
“With those points, we would be there [at the top of the table]. Away from home, we were stable and we competed very well and won in many stadiums.
“It is possible [we may not qualify for the Champions League] – we are not in the Champions League places now.
“We will see at the end of the season what my impression was.
“Let us fight until the end. Let me try to instil that fight.”
