Fernandinho says City are ready for the top-of-the-table clash with Chelsea on Saturday.
The Brazilian midfielder believes the fact the Blues have had a week to prepare will make a big difference as City look to end a run of three successive home Premier League draws.
“We’ve been working hard all week for this game and we are looking forward to it,” said Ferna. “Chelsea are the leaders at the moment but we are aiming to be in the best condition possible for this game.
“We are at the beginning of a very intense period in the Premier League with so many games in and around the Christmas period so the fact we’ve had all week to prepare is really good and our aim is to take three points from this game.
“December is a time that can determine whether or not you’re going to be in the title race or not as you can gain or lose ground very quickly so if you can rotate the squad and keep the players as fresh as possible it’s obviously much better.
“Chelsea are a good side and they have shown that this season, but so are we. Both sides have great players and a great manager and it’s all about who is raises their levels the highest on Saturday and we intend that to be us.”
Fernandinho also said he is looking forward to finally welcoming compatriot Gabriel Jesus as a team-mate later this month.
The talented teenager agreed to join City in the summer and will officially become a City player at the start of January.
“He is a young player with a lot of desire who wants to show his quality here in Europe. I know him very well from playing alongside him in the national team.
“He is a special talent and a goal-scorer and I hope he can score a lot of goals for us and he’s going to be one of the best players in the Premier League soon.
“I spoke with him after Palmeiras won the Brazilian league last week. He said he’ll be in Manchester soon and we’ll be here waiting for him.”
