City v United: Top 5 saves

Sometimes, a stunning save can swing the Manchester derby one way or another...

It's the goalscorers who come away with the glory, their names written down in folklore and spoken about on the terraces for years to come.

But if the man between the sticks doesn't do his job, then those strikes can transform from significant to statistic in the blink of an eye.

That’s why our colleagues at City TV have delved deep into the archives to pick their five greatest Manchester Derby saves, and give some of our goalkeepers a well-earned moment in the spot light.

Joe Corrigan features on the illustrious list twice, one time as part of a duo with fellow City legend Alan Oakes, as does David James for his quick thinking to stop Ruud Van Nistelrooy from tapping home in our 4-1 win in 2004.

It would be difficult to better Joe Hart’s last gasp improvised save to prevent Wayne Rooney from scoring on the half-way line, but Ederson somehow found a way at Old Trafford back in 2017.
