First-half goals from Matty Warhurst and Reigan Heskey saw City’s Under-19s overcome a talented German side to secure our place in the Youth League quarter-finals.
Warhurst opened the scoring with close-range finish on 23 minutes before the hosts drew level through a deflected 37th minute Hennes Behrens effort.
But Reigan Heskey then served up a superb run and shot in first half injury to restore our lead.
It was another fine all-round performance by Ben Wilkinson’s young side in what proved an absorbing, high quality clash.
City were also indebted to a hugely impressive defensive display with ‘keeper Oliver Whatmuff making a series of outstanding saves in both halves.
The Blues youngsters were deserved victors however and our reward is a place in the last eight where we will now play AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands in early April.
