Elite Development Squad Lead Coach Oliver Reiss spoke of his huge pride in his players after City’s Under-21s secured a quite stunning 4-3 comeback win at home to Stoke.

The Blues youngsters staged a quite extraordinary turnaround from being 3-0 down on 74 minutes to secure an amazing 4-3 victory at the Joie Stadium.

Goals from Xavier Parker and substitute Teddie Lamb had reduced the deficit before Harrison Miles struck a brilliant 90th minute leveller.

But Reiss’s side then saved the best until last, fellow sub Dexter Oliver curling a home a stunning 94th minute winner to set the seal on a night to remember.

It was our EDS’s second PL2 win of the season – but for Reiss the biggest takeawy of all was the fighting spirit of his young squad.

“I was sitting with Dexter at the end and he said ‘What a nice way to win the game.’ I said yes – but please not again!” Reiss smiled.

“It was a crazy story at the end.

“But I am so proud of the lads and thankful for their belief. They never stopped believing.

“For every goal we conceded I didn’t see any of the players drop their heads.

“They stuck to the plan to their style right to the end and it was a result I think we deserved.”
