It was undoubtedly a tense and tough battle between the two sides as the game began.
And despite the hosts hitting the crossbar in the early exchanges, the warning shot sparked City in to life.
And it was Oliver Reiss‘s Under-18s who struck first.
MATCH REPORT | UNITED 0-4 CITY
Finlay Gorman picked up the ball in City’s half and drove forward with confidence. His pinpoint left-footed pass through United’s defence teed up Ryan McAidoo who dispatched beautifully with a clinical shot on 21 minutes.
We looked un-phased by the half-time break as City came charging out the gates when the second 45 minutes began.
It took City less than 60 seconds to double our advantage, this time Reigan Heskey finding the back of the United net.
His goal came after a fantastic high press by Matty Warhurst, Gorman and McAidoo saw City regain possession. The latter tried a shot but saw it palmed away by William Murdock and into the path of Heskey to convert from close range.
Stephen Mfuni headed home at the back post to extend City’s lead with 25 minutes left to play as Reiss’s side continued to dominate.
And the victory was confirmed by substitutes Christian Dunbar-McDonald and Luca Fletcher with the former teeing up the latter who placed a composed finish into the bottom left corner.
The dominant performance means City move four points clear at the top of the table with United close in second with two games in hand.
