City Under-18s midfielder Divine Mukasa bagged a hat-trick in our 7-1 triumph over Newcastle, including a stunning halfway-line strike in a fantastic afternoon for the 17-year-old.

All three of his goals came in the second half, the first straight from kick-off following Newcastle’s goal.

The second was a clever chested effort that he guided into the bottom-right corner from close range. And his, and City’s final goal in what was a thrilling afternoon, was a composed finish at the back post.

Mukasa also recorded an assist, teeing up defender Dante Headley in the first half for his first Under-18 Premier League North goal.

After the game, the England youth international admitted the halfway line is something he often looks out for, an attempt to catch the opposing ‘keeper off guard.

“I think I look for it every game and I finally seen the ‘keeper on the edge of his box so I went for it,” began Mukasa.

“I think it was a pretty good performance, our whole team played well and we made it an easy game. Three goals came with it in the end but yeah it was a good game.

“My team-mates especially Reigan [Heskey] and Ryan [McAidoo] started the season a little bit slower, obviously Ryan joining from Chelsea but now he’s really finding his feet and contributing to goals every week so they’ve been a really big help.”
