Stefan Ortega Moreno says City’s summer signings have made an important impact after the Blues beat Al Ain 6-0 at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The victory at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium maintained our 100% record following our opening 2-0 triumph over Wydad AC and also sealed our ticket into the last-16.

Following our maiden Group G success, Pep Guardiola made 11 changes for the meeting with Vladimir Ivic’s side, with the win booking our place in the knockout stages.

Goals from Ilkay Gundogan (two), Claudio Echeverri, Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb and Rayan Cherki secured the victory – and Ortega Moreno says those who came into the side have helped maintain the Club’s first-class standards.

“Eleven new players here today and you couldn’t see any difference,” he said.

“It shows the Club made some good new signings and the players who have been here a long time as well, I think [our strength in depth] is really good.

“I think we played really well with a good rhythm and the players from the bench today they gave us a push at the end as well.

“We defended well on all the transitions and every club playing here is dangerous, but I think we defended well, our pressing was good, the joy in how we played was good so it was well deserved.”
