Interviews with Kevin De Bruyne and Bejamin Mendy comprise Monday’s Media Watch, while there’s comment from journalists on free-scoring City, too.

The France full-back has been discussing his future ambitions, both personally and with the Blues, in an article in which he also reveals the role Pep Guardiola played in his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Robin Bairner has the story for Goal, with Mendy saying: “Can I become the best left-back in the world? Why not?

“There is a long way to go, but with work anything is possible. It’s not completely crazy.

“The objective for this season? Win two or three titles with Manchester City; We have one of the best projects in Europe and we want to continue writing the history of this club.”

Midfield colleague De Bruyne also had some words for the press, who have quizzed the Belgian on taking a more responsible role in the team after he wore the armband for the first time against Feyenoord.

It was a proud moment for the 26-year-old, as he explained to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph: “That shows that I’m on the right track and I’m one of the leaders of the team.

“I know I’m one of the five on the players council (along with Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho, David Silva and Sergio Aguero).

“For me, it was also nice to be seen as one of the more adult in the group. That’s fun.

“That does not often happen. I’m the youngest of the five. We shall see (about the captaincy).”

We conclude with some analysis from Goal’s Chief Correspondent, Peter Staunton, who believes Guardiola has established his most potent side to date.

Writes Staunton: “Manchester City missed too many chances for Pep Guardiola’s liking last term. To correct that failing he has assembled not only the most offensive, but the most aggressive team he’s ever had.

“It may still only be September but the Catalan already has goal difference on his mind.

“The sole way he can ensure his team win the matches they are expected to win and stay ahead of title-chasing rivals is to set out to obliterate every opposition team from first whistle to last.

“When they hit their stride, there is simply no stopping them.”

That’s it for today, Blues, but we’ll be back with more of the same tomorrow.
