With a crunch Premier League clash and a Women’s FA Cup final to come all on the fifth anniversary of the club’s first Premier League title, it’s a busy Saturday at Manchester City!

Sky Sports this morning chose to look back on the famous Sergio Aguero goal that sealed that 2012 title in the most dramatic fashion possible.

They scribe: “In the dying embers of injury-time, Aguero collected the ball from Mario Balotelli on the edge of the box before rounding Nedum Onuoha and slamming it past Paddy Kenny to give City their first title in 44 years and spark pandemonium at the Etihad.

“Almost as memorable as the goal itself was Martin Tyler’s iconic commentary on Sky Sports.

“”Aguerooooo...” he screamed as the striker fired in the winner. “I swear you’ll never see anything like this ever again. So watch it, drink it in.”

Back to today’s match and ESPN’s Simon Curtis has highlighted the importance of a victory for City against the recently dethroned Premier League champions.

He writes: “Now City’s needs are clear. To quote [Claudio] Ranieri, City’s orchestra must rely on the combination of “boom, boom, boom and tweet, tweet” that surfaced in last week’s thrashing of Crystal Palace to ensure three vital points on the way to third place.”

That’s a lunchtime kick-off with the Women gunning for Cup glory come the early evening live on BBC Two.

Carli Lloyd has been speaking to the Guardian ahead of the Wembley showdown with Birmingham City.

She said: “Growing up in the US, I knew all about the FA Cup final and Wembley. I’m a competitor, I love finals, I love playing in big moments and to be able to play at Wembley in front of a big crowd on a fantastic, massive pitch is great. I want to do anything possible to help this team.”

Finally, a media round-up wouldn’t be complete without a glance toward the upcoming summer and the many transfer rumours that surround Pep Guardiola’s first team squad.

ESPN’s Peter O’Rourke believes City are in competition with Liverpool for the services of Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand.

He states: “Manchester City and Liverpool are considering a move for Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand as a solution to their left-back problems, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

“Bertrand has excelled at Southampton since from Chelsea in 2015 after a successful loan spell and has emerged as a target for both Liverpool and City.

“The 27-year-old has made more than 100 appearances for the club in three seasons and his form has seen him become a regular in the England squad.”

That’s all for today’s media round-up. You can keep up with the big matches on mancity.com!
