Our final Media Watch of the summer transfer window has a feel of familiarity with two transfer rumours which have cropped up repeatedly.

The window will close at 11pm this evening, but before then there’s gossip aplenty, with Alexis Sanchez and Jonny Evans featuring in today’s roundup.

The Independent report that City will look to complete a late deal for the Chilean forward, who is currently on international duty.

Miguel Delaney writes: “Manchester City will return with a significantly improved cash-only offer of around £70m for Alexis Sanchez, as they hope to finally convince Arsenal to sell the player on deadline day.

“While City have already sent a team of legal and medical officials to South America to ensure any deal can get done as quick as possible if they finally get the green light, much will depend on whether Arsenal feel they can bring in an adequate replacement in time.”

It’s a similar story at the Daily Mail, who suggest the Club are also managing the complexities of doing business during the international break in order to land West Brom defender, Evans.

Jack Gaughan reports: “Northern Ireland are flying out to San Marino – Evans is expected to be on board - at 11 o’clock on Thursday morning and City have options at their disposal if they are in a position to bring him in from West Brom for £30m.

“Evans could undergo a medical at the City Football Academy, where Northern Ireland have trained this week, before joining up with his international team-mates later on via a charter aircraft.”

And, in a break from transfer gossip, Gabriel Jesus has been telling the Brazilian media of Pep Guardiola’s training ground advice.

The Manchester Evening News have the story, via Brazil, in which the striker says: “He praises me but he also tells me off at times.

“I get annoyed when I don’t score and the last time he told me off was because of that.

“He saw that I was angry with myself during training and had a word with me. He said I am a happy person and I have to try to be happy always. He looks out for me and helps me a lot on the pitch.”

That’s your lot for today, Blues.
