The Belgian who has played more games this season than any other outfield player believes that being in the next stage is more important than the style displayed along the way.
And he can’t wait for the trip to League One Notts County at the end of the month.
“The important thing was the result,” he said. “When we went 3-1 up we played some good stuff. It is nice to be through as far as I am concerned the more games we play the better. It means we are being successful
“People will look at the draw and think that it has opened up a little for us but we can’t underestimate County at all.

“I believe that the FA Cup is very tricky. But we have shown our intent in the teams the manager has put out in the third round. We want to win every game.”
Kompany, who was this week named top Belgian playing abroad by his nation’s sportswriters, shook his head at the suggestion cup football might impede league ambitions and then put his personal award into perspective.
“The FA Cup will not get in the way and neither will the Europa League. We are fighting for three competitions and that is a positive not a negative,” he asserted.
“We have a big squad here now and a talented squad and it means that more players can get more games.
“I still know a lot of people in Belgium and I know that a lot of the people are watching very closely what is happening at Manchester City.
“It’s always nice to be recognised and to receive awards. But if you ask me there are only three trophies I want this season: the F.A. Cup, the League and the Europa League!”
