Delivered by Manchester City and City in the Community New York, the programme focused on how football can create a positive impact in their own communities.
Throughout the week, Young Leaders took part in a series of leadership workshops and practical coaching sessions led by City in the Community coaches from Manchester. The sessions encouraged participants to share their own experiences of leadership, whilst exploring how they can use football to inspire, support and empower others in their communities.
A highlight of the week saw Young Leaders lead a community football festival alongside City in the Community participants from Brooklyn. The festival showcased the power of football to bring communities together, while giving Young Leaders the opportunity to put their leadership and coaching skills into practice.
The week also included a special visit to New York University, where participants attended a panel discussion hosted by City in the Community New York. The session explored a range of topics, including career aspirations, the growing influence of AI in the sports industry and the role football can play as a force for good within communities.
Hearing from industry professionals gave participants valuable insight into potential career pathways, while encouraging them to consider how innovation, leadership and social impact can shape the future of the game.
The week concluded with a closing event celebrating the achievements of the Young Leaders, with awards and prizes recognising their contributions throughout the summit.
Young Leaders will now return to their local communities equipped with new skills, knowledge and confidence to support and deliver football-based community initiatives.
