Pep Guardiola says success in sport is never ‘eternal’ but called on City to sustain this supreme spell of honours.

Under Guardiola, City have won a remarkable 17 trophies – six Premier Leagues, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields as well as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

City achieved the Treble in 2022/23, Four-in-a-Row in 2023/24 and want to follow that up with a double Double, an achievement that would be guaranteed with an FA Cup win on Saturday.

The manager stressed that this dominance would not last forever but said it was important to continue it for as long as possible.

“So our team is here and maybe tomorrow will be different, next season will be different with same manager, same players, same team, it can be different, nothing is eternal,” said the boss.

“There are periods in history, always when you have a long history, there are periods.

“I say enjoy the moment because this is not going to happen for the next how many years.

“The duty is to sustain it for as long and as much as possible.

“For football players, basketball players, tennis players, who is the best? Every generation has their own period, has their own player.

“You have to enjoy it now and sustain it as long as possible.”
