Marc Guéhi has praised City's belief, determination and togetherness after fighting back from a goal down to win 2-1 against Bournemouth in our Premier League opener.

Marcus Tavernier put the Cherries ahead after 26 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Guéhi headed us level after 84 minutes before Josko Gvardiol completed a remarkable turnaround by slotting in the winner in stoppage time, ensuring a perfect start to Enzo Maresca’s league tenure in charge of City.

The Englishman was deployed in a midfield role alongside compatriot Elliot Anderson and in his interview with City Studios after the game, Guéhi spoke about his pride in the team’s never-say-die attitude.

“It was nice. Tough game against a really good side,” he began. “A lot of changes and new beginnings for all of us.

“Really proud of every single person for these first few steps. And let’s see what happens now.

“You have to [believe] right until the end, that’s the most important.

“When things aren’t going your way, it’s important to keep going, keep going, until the referee blows his whistle. We’re proud of everyone. Cherki came on and made a big difference.

“I’m super proud of everyone for sticking by each other, the fans for not lacking trust in us. It’s a good first steps.”

Guéhi also spoke about how he felt about playing in midfield.
