Oliver Reiss says despite a difficult first half City deserved the victory when the full-time whistle rang around the Joie Stadium to complete our 5-1 win over Millwall in the FA Youth Cup.

Stephen Mfuni put Reiss’s Under-18s ahead on eight minutes before a Abdulahi Abdulazeez penalty kick levelled the playing field.

Despite Harrison Miles’s volley to make it 2-1 seconds before half-time, Reiss knew there was more to come from his team.

And they definitely proved that when Ryan McAidoo, Matty Warhurst and Divine Mukasa extended City’s lead to confirm our place in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup as our journey to retain the title continues.

“As I was expecting it was a tough game or a tough first half,” began Reiss.

“And it was because of both teams. They defended very well and we were not good enough with the ball. So the shape I wasn’t happy with it was too wide.

“So the tactical discipline was not as we wanted to have. And also the speed on the ball was at the end not enough to create more chances out of our possession.

“So at half-time they [the players] needed a little bit of a kick in their you know what I mean but then it was much better of course in the second half and in the end a very well deserved win for us.”
